Hi all again my question of the day is im the new owner of a slighty uesd 1995 spi with the 587 motor. Spent a whopping 299.00 for it and a good trailer. So my question and problem is I just spent all day on it cleaning 5yrs of mold and bird crap on it and the hull is in great shape along with ride plate jet pump ect. The bad motor is locked up bad.I dont ever want to mess with it.
So with in mind living olny 10miles from SBT in clearwater fl. I can get a rebuilt motor for 500.00 .Now my question is with these seadoos computer-meps is it possibal to spend a little more coin and just upgrade say to a 787 or 951 motor with out having to change out the computer-wireing harness. I just finshed rebuilding a 1997 gtx with the 787 on that 3seater goes about 55 if you trust the speedo on it so im thinking with this lighter 2seater spi with a 787 mabe just mabe i could hit around 60 mph? so is this project even worth while or should i just stick with the factory motor.
and and move along at from what ive been told these skis do about 45 mph tops also could some one confrim that top speed thanks. or just throw it in the trash can.

Just to add I like the idea of a no frills fast spi that i can tke out and have fun thats low cost and rellabile unlike my 1997gtx that just the stupid lcd info center cost 500.00 for thanks for your time..

The '95 SPI is a gas sipper and a great experience for the novice to ride, maintain. Best advice is SBT it.

Want fast? buy a fast ski! Just my advice.
