1995 SP No Crank No Click of solenoid no start! No idea 💡 lol

1995 SP No Crank No Click of solenoid no start! No idea 💡 lol

Just purchased this a few days ago. The day I got it the start button was only working when it wants to but would start if you played with switch. I replaced the start stop switch
And it cranked over for a few seconds then stopped. So I'm looking it over. I decided to swap the Post that the lanyard attaches to. No change. Has a brand new battery. I put a multi meter on it today has 12.4V and still does nothing. I put a brand new starter solenoid on it this morning and nothing
Besides a bad MPEM I'm running out of ideas
I have a 1995 GTX I was going to borrow MPEM off of but it says right on the back "do not connect to 587 engine as damage will occur" any help is greatly appreciated. I have a 15 year old daughter itching to ride

Try shorting across the 2 large terminals on the top of the solenoid with an insulated handle screwdriver to test if the engine cranks reliably. If it does then the problem may still be the solenoid (aftermarket one can be bad out of the box). You could bench test the solenoid and test that it gets the 12V and ground control signals on it's small connector when the start button is pressed. If the engine does not crank when shorting across the top of the solenoid then have the battery load tested at an auto supply store. If it checks out the the starter may be failing. Since you said it had started at times then the engine or pump are probably not locked up.

It cranks over when jumper the starter solenoid. I'm wondering if the start stop switch is good. Also I am not getting 2 beeps when installing the lanyard on the post

A 95 SP doe not have a Dess post an therefore I do not think it beeps when the cap is put on the post. Download the shop manual that contains a schematic and probably details tests for the start button and solenoid. The start button probably just connects a ground to the mpem input line.

Well today I ended up wiggling the ground wire and it fired right up. I am going to put a new ground wire on it tomorrow morning and try it
