I’m putting the carburetor back on after a carb rebuild. In order to get the oil pump set as close as possible now, I would like to know how many turns inward after the idle speed screw touches the lever is a good starting point?
Also I’ve read a number of places on the forum that you recommend 3000 RPM out of water. My manual says 2400 RPM for my 587 model SP. Which do you suggest?
Thanks Jim.

Two turns in from when it touches should at least get it running.

I would go by the manual then see how it does in the water.

A safe generic rule of thumb is 3000 out of the water and 1500 in the water.

Great thank you I appreciate it. My ski does not have a tachometer so I bought A cheap inductive digital tachometer we’ll see how that works for initial set up. Thanks again.
