Thinking about picking up a 1995 Seadoo XP. The drive shaft is seized. Engine, carbs, hull and overall condition are fine plus it has a mint single trailer with new tires and bearings. I can get it for the cost of the trailer practically.

From what I've been told. The ski stopped working on the water and wouldn't start back up. The owner who is totally non technical thought he had run out of gas but that obviously wasn't the case. Any thoughts on the probably cause of this? What is the worst case and what is the best case? Thanks in advance for your help!

Worst case is he toasted the engine, best case the pump is jammed. You would have to remove the pump to free the shaft and see if you can turn the engine over my hand.

Thanks. The engine is out and it turns over by hand. Need to check the intake for obstruction and/or remove the pump as a next step like you mention. Thanks!

Check the carrier bearing. If it wasn't being greased it will seize to the shaft and possibly damage the thru hull fitting.

Just remember, it's a 1 year only drive shaft. You can't really go wrong at the price of admission.
