Took my ski to the lake this past weekend and it filled with water. I hooked it up to water in my yard to find the leak. Water is spraying out of a hole in the top of my exhaust manifold. It looks like its supposed to be plugged. It's right above my finger in the picture. Anyone know what this hole is?

Are you talking about the elbow fitting, or the plug that is welded into the side of the pipe?

OK... it's normal for the older skis... especially ones that get used in salt water, to rot out the weld plugs. The recommended repair is to cut it out, and weld in a new plug. BUT, there have been members here that have tapped it, and threaded in a large plug... or even fixed it with JB weld.

If you don't have a weld shop local to you... I'm sure you can find a pipe on ebay for $30 or less. (FYI, fresh water skis don't normally have that prob)

A few years back I had the same leak. I used a pick and scraped out any loose debris I could find. Then used a wire brush and roughed up the area real good. I used a two part chemical weld putty (similar to Mighty Putty) to patch. Make sure you knead it very well and then press it in place. Use a little spit on your fingers to smooth it out then let it set. It took about 5 minutes to patch and I let it set overnight. Havn't had a problem since. (knock on fiberglass).
