I have a bog standard 1995 gtx 657x.

Would like to get a little more performance and top speed out of her.
Not looking to break the bank or end up with a ski I have to tune each time I take her out.

Have been offered some K&N air filters for her and wondered if they would make a difference.

Would also like to hear from anyone who has done mods to and is currently using the 657x and is happy with the results.

That's it. Apologies if this has been answered a thousand times before. If so I am not a good thread searcher!

Performance issue?

You have a "bog". Replace those grey tempo fuel lines and fuel selector valve. Clean out separator/filter and re-build the carbs. Replace the jetpump oil, check wear ring clearance with a feeler gauge. Replace the two small oil
injection pump to Rotary Valve cover oil lines. Gas goes bad in 2-3 weeks, so
use some Stabile if the ski sits. A compression test will tell you the engine's
internal health. 150 each cylinder is good. Bills86e

Ive got to disagree with the gas goes bad in 2-3 weeks comment. My Camaro sits all winter with a full tank and now staybil and I have no problems starting the car after 5 months of sitting. My skis will sometimes sit for 2 weeks or so without riding. I had a 69 Camaro about 5 years ago that sat for 10 years and started with the gas that was in the tank, again, no staybil

I have that ski and did the carb reworking a few years ago along with the grey fuel line replacement, this is a must for the 2stroke models is new lines and fuel control switch to prevent any lean-out problems, those sypmtoms neglected almost always end in burnt pistons and the partickles fall into the rotating parts compartment resulting in teardown to repair. I since have added homeade hydrogen tanks that hold equivelant of 30lb propane tank and it goes up on plane in a breath but have never made it past 62mph - that was with a bad wind to my back just made it to the dock when the sky unfolded.

Can you explain the hydrogen tank thing? I guess i'm not quit following you in this.

Hydrogen is a light gas, lifts the ski up on plane really quick - in deisel and other motors it gives more power and maybe longer hours per gallon but in this one it seems like injecting hydrogen nce effect on fuel economy, I have an adjustable hydrogen regulator with little effect on hours per tank of gas.

Okay. I'll bite. How do you mod hydrogen fuel enrichment to the 657x motor ?
Can find no info on forum or web in general. So can you enlighten me. Sounds interesting ! Thanks.

It was to try and make crossing from CLE to canada without needing a fuel stop but it had little effect on the overall fuel/hr, I increased hydrogen beyond my diesel and gasoline car use, good power but no economy change, I am tossing it out this season now that I found my ideal jet boat.
