So im pulling all these skis apart and noticed something. They all have somewhat different pumps and im curious which one may be the better pump.

The ski I purchased to rebuild and keep was the 1997 spx with a 787 and vts

The others are a 1994 spx with no vts and a 657 and a 1995 xp with a 717 with vts

the xp has what I think is a solid aluminum housing and some sort of extension against the hull. Its a good 4 inches longer than the rest when you add in the extension

the 1994 spx does not have the extension and is aluminum

the 1997 spx is much like the 1994 size wise but is some sort of plastic or epoxy and has a really long nose cone

Curious if I should try to swap for the longer xp aluminum pump if possible. Guessing its not possible as it requires longer studs in the hull but I thought I would ask

also curious if all new pumps are some sort of composite ???

thanks

The pumps are interchangeable... but generally... the pumps with the bronze insert are the best.

So what is the deal with the XP having that extension kinda thingy...... Is that some sort of performance benefit. If so is there a way I can use it. Not sure how I would without somehow having longer studs in the hull

I know one if not all have some bronze.. I will have to check

thanks
