First off im new to the forum and would like to say thanks in advance to all the help.
I jave what i believe is a 94 gtx it has the 650 in it. The doo has sat for about 10 years put a hot battery in it and the start button does nothing but if i jump the starter solenoid it struggles to turn over. I done a compression test with one plug out while comp tester was in the other spark plug hole and got 170psi of compression switched the tester and got the exact same. Then i checked for spark and have none. I don't have a manual for it and was wondering where to start testing on it.

The first thing you want to do is download the service manual. If you google search your model and “service manual,” you’ll find a free download.

Im doing that now. I took the starter out and cleaned it and it turns much easier now and i redone the compresson test and once again got 170 psi on both cylinders but still no spark.

170 is really high for a 657. Are you sure it’s a stock motor? They don’t normally mod them, but I guess it’s possible.

I know nothing about it except my grandpa got it in 96 sold it to my aunt in 98 and then it got parked in 06 at my place. That is all i truley know

Just dont yet another compression test and got 150 psi on both cylinders guess there was a little bit of oil in the cylinders yesterday. I downloaded a manual for 94 btw

Perfect. That’s a good compression number. Now you’ll want to take a meter and see if you are making a contact closure at the connector for the start/stop switch. You should have continuity when it’s pressed and an open circuit when it’s not...

The stop switch on the handle bar fell into pieces when i touched it( its just 2 wires hanging out) and something is up with my multi meter. When i press the start button with the kill switch attached the low oil light comes on but there is no beeps and there is a half tank of oil. Can the low oil warning light cause the no spark/ start button not working issue.

well, the first thing you need to do is track down the no spark issue. It could be as simple as cutting the ignition cables back about an inch to reveal some fresh wire for the spark plugs.

the issue is it could be much deeper than that. there could be some sort of wiring issue inside the rat's nest (ebox).

As for the oil light on the info gauge, it is possible that the float switch in the oil tank is jammed up and won't read correctly. Probably not that big of a deal as long as you don't let the oil tank run empty.

I would suggest ordering a new start/stop switch as this could be causing some minor issues that relate to it not turning the crank very strong and it sounds like you need one regardless lol.
Also, order yourself a new set of brushes for the starter. This may or may not be part of the problem, but it's an easy job, doesn't cost much, and it is safe to assume that the starter could use it as old as the thing is.

Narrow, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that all the skis came with a beeper in them whether or not they had DESS. The beepers tend to wear or function intermittently though. My XP the beeper hardly ever works when I'm at the lake, but for some reason when I'm in my garage it almost always works and when I hook the battery up at home before heading to the lake I can hear it on the trailer beeping with every bump.

The early DOOs had an overheat buzzer only. It made the same sound as the "beeper" people are used to in the DESS equiped machines, it only functions as a constant tone and is in line with the temp sensor only. The DESS machines are the ones that use the beeper as an over heat alarm as well as a disagnostic tool giving you the familiar two beeps when the cord is plugged in. Same part, same sound, different functions depending on the generation of seadoo you have. The 94's only had the overheat function.

Nick i took the starter apart and cleaned it and cleaned where the ground cable goes on the starter and it turns over much easier now when jumping the starter solenoid.

I used a multimeter to see if if the 2 wires on the little posts on the starter solenoid was getting power when pressing the start button and they are not.

I tried to ohm test the wires to possibly find the problem and cnat get any readings( i think the batterys are about dead in my multimeter). Thanks for the help so far.

Is there a way i can rig up a start button somehow to see if the start button on the doo is bad
