I'd greatly appreciate any help I can get on this matter. My 1994 Seadoo GTX that I just purchased, ran great on 1st time out, 2nd time out, ran great for about 2 hours. Then a friend's 19-yr-old son brought it back after about 2 hrs, said it was losing acceleration to about idling. He'd turn it off. It'd cool down, then run again for about a minute or two even at full throttle, then go back to losing acceleration and bog down, but will still run or idle. I don't know if he ruined it and won't tell me what all he did to it, or if it's a pre-existing problem from when I bought it. Once again, thank you in advance for any help!

Does your buzzer work? There is an over temp buzzer and they are known to go bad. The problem you are describing sounds like it was overheating.

Having the same engine(s) as your ski and experiencing the same things in the past it sounds like one of three things:
1. Engine could possibly be seizing. I would check the two small oil injector tubes going to the cylinders from the oil pump and make sure they are not broken or rotted. Then check to make sure the oil pump linkage is set correctly.
2. Fuel selector valve is clogged and most probably the small internal carb filters. Clean or replace.
3. Could be overheating. Check and make sure it is peeing out the pee hole at the back of the ski.

Those 657 engines are pretty tough engines. My wife rode almost a tank of fuel out of one of my skis that had rotted injector lines before it started to seize up.
Pulled it out of the water repaired the injector lines. Did a compression test and put it back in the water. That was 3 summers ago and it is still running great.
