1994 GTX low power issue

Having an issue with my GTX. Had it out on the water yesterday and for the first time it would just go about half or quarter speed. I got it to break out into full speed 2 times but that was it. I'm wondering if this issue would be a power valve issue or carbs... Just trying to narrow down if this is a common maintenance issue with these engines and where to look first. Thanks

No power valves on this one. Most likely carbs or fuel system. Lots of info on here regarding fuel and carbs. Follow it meticulously.

Thanks for the heads up and info... Yeah I recently flushed the gas tank cuz old owner was unsure of the 2 stroke oil he used premixed. So I will start there for sure. Thanks again

Start at the battery, load test it,,,and then see that it is charging 13 plus volts,,,a weak regulator can also give you your symptoms.,also ,put in new plugs..easy and cheap to do,,,but poppie is correct,,,your symptoms often are fuel delivery/carb related.

On my 94 gtx I had the rubber pipe and clamps loosen and allow the pipe to seperate a hair/ let pressure out. You would be seeing some exhaust in the hull, it killed all the power.

No power valves on that motor.

That motor is very reliable if maintained and left alone. If it is new to you then I would start with a compression check, look into the carbs/fuel system.
