just purchased a basket case of seadoo (1993 XP) and contemplating doing a rebuild. The first damage I encountered that started the chain reaction was the carb screw that vibrated loose and dropped into the engine leaving a big rip in the rotary valve. And that sudden stop to the engine pushed the rotary valve gear on the crank to shift to one side, other than that it is a great condition crank but needs the gear moved back and a new inner seal at the least (so it is worth a rebuild unit)
the question i have is that this one has the 159 degree rotary valve instead of the manual stated 147 valve. I see in 94 it looks like they went from the 147 to the 159.
Is it best to go back to the original 147 or replace with a new 159? what is the difference in performance? and other than the rotary timing set up do you have to mess with ignition timing when you switch between the 2?
