1992 Seadoo XP - help and restoration

Restoring this old hunk of junk shes been through hell

Having trouble starting. took starter out and tested works fine. When i press the button it just clicks. I suspect i have some kind of issue with my ground but unsure. theres this clump of wires in my Electrical box that goes to ground that i think is the problem. does anyone know what it is? can anyone tell me what the black thing betweeen my fingers are?

has a aftermarket mpem that i think may be wired wrong still figuiring that out aswell. the weird thing is it just randomly wouldnt start, it also has a parasitic draw that i think may be related.

could it be a fuse? it goes to ground and the start button. i dont see the start button going to gnd on the schematic

sort of unrelated, but my son had a jeep that would occasionally just click when he tried to start it. Two things we found, loose battery connection and a loose ground. Tightened the two up and the problem went away.

i cant find anyhting about this piece but i see it in all the pictures of skis

Left all the wiring as is but fuel gauge still does not work or the Tac. It does start now so I am going to proceed with working on the jet pump.
