Hi All,;) I'm looking at buying a speedster 150 and don't know which one would be better for me. I most likely will not be pulling a lot of skiers. Maybe knee boards and tubes and maybe a wake boarder. mostly just riding and fishing out of. want something that is not going to be causing a lot of down time and more water time. thanks for your input.

I vote 155

I am turned off with the supercharger clutch/ceramic washers issue. SeaDoo is finally building them with metal washers but all of them require rebuilding every 100 hours, less if you ride hard. I like the idea that my 155 is the same motor that holds up to the abuse of being spun up higher RPMs.
I only own a 155.

Thanks 99SK.... are better on fuel also? I am looking at a 08 and a 215 06 & 07 but for the price differance I would get 3 year warranty.

Yep

Definitely better on fuel.

You can run full synthetic oil in a 155 NA, Always had to run mineral oil in the SC and SCIC (after they figured out that the SC clutches were slipping with synthetic). Now SeaDoo recs/sells a semi-synthetic for them. I run mobil 1 on sale (5-40) at half the price.

Is there a lot to winterizing them. the closest dealer is about 2 hours a way? Just wondering , I want to get it done every year by the dealer but if i buy used then i could save some traveling time. Which Gas do you run it yours 99SK? I'm really leaning on a new 2008 150 speedster 155. thanks for your comments also 99SK been a help.

I run regular cheapest unleaded in my 99 SK

Same for my 04 GTX 155 NA. You need to run premimum in all SC and SCIC. The 155 NA needs very little winterizing, less than the SCIC since you have to get anti-freeze into the intercooler. All 4Tec's should have motor oil and filter changed for winterizing. I only check the grease in the pump cone every 2-3 years and change the engine anti-freeze every 2-3 years. On all 4Tec's you should remove the fuel injecttors/rail and spray XPS in + lube your throttle body with XPS. New plugs at the beginning of every season

What Oil to Use ?

Can anyone offer a definitive statement on what oil to use for the 07 RXT 215SCIC ski ? I have read probably most of the forum and it seems, generally, that non synthetic is recommended for this model which has ceramic SC washers.

So I go to the dealer, he tells me it needs XPS Synthetic Oil, not only that but he sells me "winter grade" mainly designed for use in snowmobiles, not only that, he charges $67.50 for a jug here in Canada. Nice.

Can someone recommed a suitable product that works protecting both the 215 SCIC engine and not shortening the life of the SC clutch, that does not cost an arm and a leg.

I have what I would call moderate riding habits, not tons of jumping or lenthy runs at WOT.

Cheers

SeaDoo now recommends and sells a semi-synthetic

SeaDoo now recommends and sells a semi-synthetic for all SCIC motors. That sounds like what the dealer is selling you. I can run full synthetic in my 04GTX 155 NA.
Many just buy Castrol GTX for their SCIC and I have never heard of problems.

Thanks I may indeed use Castrol GTX, or Amsoil Marine Oil, which does not have friction modifiers in it. They produced a technical report showing less SC clutch slippage with their oil. The dealer by the way did sell me all synthetic (yellow jug).
Cheers
Steve
