It's summer time and I just can't stand to see him stuck in video games constantly. So I bought him a rough salt turd on a rusty trailer for $310. He actually has enjoyed it so far. Many of the tools and principles he is learning will cross over to other projects.

He is too darn big to ride with on an X4 anymore. I did not want him to go alone on a 60 mph ski right off the bat either(although he has done it before). This should be a nice fit.

That is great. I do not have kids but if I did that is what I would have them doing. This way they respect what they have and they will take care of it.

Great idea.

Will never appreciate it more than actually working in it himself and with you.

Congrats.

That's awesome, he will be super proud of that thing when finished, I know I would have! I do not have kids either, but when I do, I will start them out early working on things and learning to do things for themselves. It pains me to watch my nephews glued to a damn video game controller all day, everyday.

Most of these kids think they have alot of friends. ALL invisble kids they play online with that they will never meet in real life. It is a shame

This post is priceless!! My son helped me rebuild a motor after WE took it out and put it back in.Plenty of knuckle skin lost but the grin on his face after the first ride was the best.

I now what you mean, my boy is 8 and we (I) fill the XP up. I think I need a GTX for the wife and kids so I can ride solo, LOL. He does enjoy the white knuckle ride through the canals, W.F.O. Keep him out there fixing that stuff up Matt. For you guys who don't have kids, enjoy the time without them and when you eventually have kids, enjoy the time even more. My 2 are always wandering into the shop and now my son is asking more and more questions about stuff and I caught my daughter looking and the mechanicals of the kiddie rides on the boardwalk, that almost brought a tear to my eye.

i'm between ski's right now and the only one pissed off about it is my daughter.....

her middle name needs to be changed to Wot.

After a couple weeks of camp, vacations and rain we finally had a couple days to bang this thing out. We painted the hood(minty working fuel gauge) and handle bar cover, installed Hydro-Turf, changed wear ring and pump oil, new AGM battery, new grips from the bike shop next store, Amsoil Interceptor in the tank and full of high test fuel. I've got $500 in this thing and I bet it gets a chance to tow one of my fancy skis home. The kid really did help a lot, especially when he saw the light at the end of the tunnel. Steering colom is still a little stif but that's for another day. I added a little pre-mix of coarse because of the years of sitting and I need to confirm that the oil injection is working.

It really did run perfect. I had just rocked the pto back and forth a little when buying and thought it felt right. There was compression in both cylinders but you never know. I lucked out.
