NEWBIE Finally ready to pull the trigger. Found 08 430 hp w/tower for 31000 out the door. Then I found an 09 430 hp w/o tower for 33000 out the door. No changes on the boat if I read correct. Never owned a boat before , suppose I would use the tower for tubing, wakeboarding, etc.. Do they make tops for the tower? (shade) Anybody have any exp. with an air chair? Any help would be appreciated.

Easy,

Is the '08 with tower new? If it is I think this is the way to go. Your talking about a differential of like $4000 between the two boats if all else is equal. Looks to me the only significant difference is graphics??

Now I just considered your comment about "Never owned a boat before". Have you considered buying something used....Will save you a tremendous amount of money, allow you to determine what you like and dont like in a boat and finally give you the chance to make your new boat blunders(we all made 'em) on a boat that doesnt set you back 30 grand.

this may sound stupid but was hoping to use for a year get rid of it and find out what I like. Trying to have trouble free exp first time out so figured new was the way to go. the 08 sounded like the way to go for me to just wanted to hear it from someone else.

Your money

Easy,

Its your money and I have no business telling you how to spend it. Just wanted to share a boat I found that could save you a ton:

Remember, if you get that new 2008 and for whatever reason dont like and you want to re-sell it....you need to be prepared for a big financial hit. If money is not the issue and you like the peice of mind knowing you bought something brand new then so be it. Just remember one thing. Just because a boat is brand new doesnt mean you wont have problems. Its very common to buy a brand new boat and have to work out gremlins.

To much money keep looking, 2008 Speedster 200 430hp here in canada NEW are$28,000

called every dealer around a good sized area and was unable to find and 08 for a deal except in michigan and I am in FL! Tried to get everyone to come down on the boat....every reply it's a 40000 boat. So i hang up call another. Figure this day and age someone would be considering to sell it for 26 out the door (which was my budget) . I HAVE to be on the water soon...got the fever and bout ready to give it up. Is there any noticeable power differences between the 310 430? that 07 does look nice.....same color as boat I am looking at.

the one in michingan was like 26 plus local tax 6%...talking at least 35 hrs round trip.....I have to think about that one.

Power package

Easy,

My 20' Utopia has the 310 power package. I have never tested the 430 package so I cannot comment on any kind of comparison. What I can say is the 310 package is great! The 430 must be insane power. If your talking similar money between the two I would probably go with the more powerful package. Just remember that if you don't get a current boat the 430 package are supercharged engines and had a problem with the supercharger washers blowing up engines when you run synthetic oil. If you get the 430 package go out of your way to determine if your boat has the new updated washers.

Easy, Call Fred at Smith Powersports. They are in Hayesville NC where I bought my boat. They periodically have stuff that they offer at unbelieveable prices. For instance, I got my NEW old stock 2007 Utopia 205 in January for under $14,000 WITH 3 year Seadoo BEST warranty.

Its a overnight trip but well worth it. Several members on this forum bought our boats from this dealer. Some of us had to deal with alot of "stuff" to get our boats right but most will agree they are good people to do business with and try to make things right in the end.

Craig,
appreciate the input will try them monday. I asked about the washers and the tower and the man said if I break it in properly will not have an issue....thinking about asking him to find out if the ceramic washers are in there and if so if he would swap them out. Seems like it would be a win win for both sides. that problem I would assume would be under warranty?!? would an 08 still be a new boat? in the sense of value?

New

If an '08 has never been registered and never put in the water it is of course still considered new. You get the full BRP factory warranty but once you put the boat in the water and of course register it, its a used boat and so goes the value. The same would apply to the '09 only difference is its still worth a little more considering its one model year newer.

Where in Florida are you? I use Barneys of St. Pete for all my service needs and they are fantastic. Dont know how they are for sales but for service they get two thumbs up :hurray:
