new to this guys, only have my ski a few months and
today went out on it was goin perfect but suddenly
down on power its reving to 6800 but barely it just
hasnt got the take off it had sounds different aswell.
any help would be great thanks.

Is the fuel fresh? If so than change the spark plugs. That might do it. Be sure to gap them properly.
I'm assuming there isn't anything lodged in the jet pump assy.

STOP riding it you might have a supercharger failure. How many hrs are on it and have the ceramic washers been replaced with the metal one yet? You need to pull the intake off the supercharger and see if you can spin the supercharger impeller by hand.

I agree...it is highly likely that ceramic washers in your supercharger are done. I would stop riding it immediately. Do a search for ceramic washers on the forum and you will get lots of hits that will help you figure out what to do next. It isn't a cheap or easy fix so you might have to bring it in to a dealer.

If you do what joel says above and try and spin the supercharger by hand, it shouldn't turn...if it does this just confirms the washer failure.

Hope this helps!

65 hours are on it, i'll check the charger tomorow so
lads, only got it serviced before i took it out today
and i just checked the oil level and its a bit over full,
must make sure nothing stuck on the jet pump assembly will
i be able to see that wit a torch ya.

Over filled oil can also reduce performance with the 4-tec motor so you need to take some out, but be sure to check the Scharger.

The Oil level is a issue. Your best performance is to have the level between the high / low mark for best performance. The level is best checked either in the water or exactly horizontal on the trailer. Its possible that the Sc needs some attention as well.

just went at it now the pipe off the charger has blown off
going onto throttle body, i tried turning the charger vains
i can just about turn em but very stiff is that right?

Sounds like you caught it in time befor the washers let go. You need to rebuild the supercharger. Be sure to replace the ceramic washer with metals one. I believe the new rebuild kit come with metal washers now. if not riva sells them. So 1st thing pull the whole charger right out and have a look at it to besure nothing has broken apart.

i had a similar issue,

dont ever put oil to the limit, fill it to just under between the mid line of the two little marks they have on there.

I was getting oil in the plugs, like fresh unburned oil and reduced takeoff.

Replaced the plugs and took out 300ml of oil and now it reads just midway when cold and near full when its hot.

Best idea is to check it on the water right at the dock after you idle it around a bit.

Mine was so bad it wouldnt even start

BTW metal washers are a must for any 4tec supercharged engines. Had mine done at 40 hrs, just a rough spring start because of this stupid oil change when i overfilled it.

Good luck and post some updates now that its warm in most northern areas :)

Lets say the supercharger ceramic washers failed? how much do the dealers charge for this repair? Is this covered under the BRP Warranty??

hey try the Moeller Oil extractor and change your own oil....16.00 for filter and 14.00 for a gallon and your on your way ...or the Oil boy...some marine stores carry them for about 65.00

Hey Johnny,
I'm Maurice and I have the same problem you have had in the past. What did you do about the 6800 RPM and loss of power problem?

Mine just started doing the same.

check your intercooler, if its not winterized properly it may develop small cracks and actually burn water and gas resulting in incomplete combustion and thus a loss of power as well.

Intercooler leaks are not common but certainly lethal and invisible from the outside.

Remove the plugs after a run and check inside.

Reason for low revs
1. old plugs, bad spacing, consider getting iridum plugs, NGK DCPR8EIX or denso IXU27 or IXU24
2. overfilled oil (plugs will also be oily, should be a cream color)
3. leaky supercharger tubes (check clamps and hoses on all intakes)
4. Old supercharger washers, you will have to check PSI on full boost, superchargers need a rebuild kit at 100 hours, the kit is about 300$ if you do it yourself in parts

Note you will also get some vibration if your engine is combustion water (small amounts). If the leak is bad you will blow a valve or rod :(

PS your max redline on an RXP should be around 8050 RPM with the stock impeller. Upgraded impellers will reduce the RPM if the pitch cannot be pushed by the engine mods (ie 14/19 solas on a stock rxp setup will reduce RPM). You would just need more mods, most HP to push a higher pitch prop. Stock is around 13/18 pitch.

Cheers
C
