Our oil sensor just started going off and the oil is fine. Can we override it (unplug) and still ride? Or what do we need to do?

Is it sending your ski into limp mode? What p code is it throwing? Are you able to find out?

It is throwing it in limp mode but after it sits for a few minutes it is fine.

A CandooPro could quickly give you the p fault code which would alert you to what's going wrong. If its simply a sensor it would let you know which one.

We are sitting on the water. From what we have read it sounds like it is the front oil sensor. How hard is it to get the p code.

I believe that you can start with the ski off, put the key on, press the set button 5 times, then the active codes will be displayed. Then you press the mode button to scroll through the codes if you have multiple codes. It's in my SELOC manual. I tried it on my RXT but I didn't have any codes.

P1514 - Engine temp sensor circuit high voltage

P1517 - Compass out of range

P1517 is probably nothing to worry about.

I think you should still be able to ride. Neither of those codes is for something vital. Do you have a compass on your RXP? I would guess that for the other code you could try replacing the sensor. Exterior temp is probably the sensor that reads water temperature. It wouldn't break your ski if that wasn't accurate.

No other codes but those two but at 3200 or 3300 limit it will let us limp in over that it shuts off

Maybe try replacing the oil pressure switch. It looks like there are two of them. Not sure which one. If there could be a problem with your oil pressure you shouldn't ride it until it's fixed.

Looks like one switch is about $35 and the other is around $30. I'd just try replacing both of them. Probably cheaper than a diagnostic fee at a dealer.

The oil is registering fine. So you wouldn't suggest just bypassing it if it is just the sensor so they can ride?

I don't know enough about the issue. I can't make a good recommendation on bypassing an oil sensor. The 4-tec engines are really expensive to repair if your engine fails. Around $2500 I think just for a remanufactured engine I think. Then you have to get the old one out and put the new one in. Probably add $1000 if you pay someone to do it. It is your ski so you can do it if you want but I don't think I would. I'm not an expert though. I just happen to have a manual I bought from ebay.

Thank you so much for all your help!! It has been very helpful. We have unloaded and just sitting because we aren't sure what to do after getting all the way here only to not be able to ride it.

Notorious issue with BOTH sensors. Just replace them both as Seadoo has updated them. They are cheap.

Thank you we have decided not to take the chance and go ahead and have it serviced and replace both sensors. Makes for a long day at the river though with no toy!

Full synthetic oil will cause low oil pressure. Sensor are set at 28 psi. That is why the SeaDoo oil is blended. If you intend to use a full synthetic oil, you will need lower psi oil pressure sensor.
SeaDoo's recommended oil is the way to go.

Full synthetic in a 4-tec especially with a SC is not a good thing. Blended is the correct way to go.

Sorry, my browser was very slow and didn't load any other comments before I wrote this. I'll keep it, anyways ...

You need to figure out what's wrong before riding it. There are lots of reasons for the sensor to be activated, including water in the system. Make sure you do an oil change, if it hasn't been done this year yet and make sure it's not "milky" at all. If your ski throws a code, make note of it and google it so you have a better idea of what the problem is. There are ways to see if it's thrown a code, if you don't know how to check.
