05 RXT Lost 4 mph

I have a 2005 RXT that consistently ran 70 mph top speed (per speedo). Last summer I ran over a giant clump of weeds and sucked up a bunch. Shortly after that I noticed my top speed dropped to 66/67 mph.

I assumed I had damaged the wear ring but my dealer says the wear ring is fine. So now I'm stumped. Any other ideas as to what could cause the drop? Should I get a 2nd opinion on the wear ring? I haven't had a tuneup or even new plugs in a couple of years. Could that be it?

replace the wear ring and install new plugs....
