Couple of questions from a noob so bear with me... I'm wanting to do a cold air intake on my 05 rxt... Now I have seen the ones riva sells that goes to the front of the hull... But I've been seeing alot of people run ones that come out the back.. With that being said what are advantages/disadvantages of the rear mount. Seems like it can't get cool air back there. And I'm also wanting to do a free flow exhaust. What size pipe is needed and how long roughly? My ski is in the shop right now so I can't go look or I would. Just wanting to go ahead and buy whatever I need so ill have it when it comes out.. And what is the point of the 42lb injectors? Thanks in advance

Rear intake is just less expensive than one ran to the front. Unless you run a vent too it you're sucking hot air with both rear or front. As far as free flow exhaust goes here's a thread http://www.seadooforum.com/showthre...-Exhaust-for-2008-RXT-215&p=325757#post325757 explains everything you need for a home made free flow exhaust. 42lb injectors on a stock ski are pointless. Only time you need them is when you upgrade the supercharger (ie x charger or et127 or similar)

Ok so the intake is really just a matter of choice. And I've looked at that video of the 08 free flow exhaust. Just didn't know if there was any difference in the 05 to 08 model. Do you know of a link to get the pipe? And thanks on the info of the injectors. Seen some on eBay at a good price. I won't mess with them now.

The only difference could be that you don't need a pipe that has a 90* bend in it. You may just need a straight piece of 2.5" tube. Stainless is a must if you ride in salt water.

Ok thanks. Guess ill wait till I get it back before I buy anything.

With that being said what are advantages/disadvantages of the rear mount. Seems like it can't get cool air back there. if you don't vent the rear seat...you won't get cool air. but you do have a less restrictive intake because 1 distance is shorter and 2 usually larger dia hose. And I'm also wanting to do a free flow exhaust. What size pipe is needed and how long roughly? My ski is in the shop right now so I can't go look or I would. Aside....if you do vent the rear seat...the intake, and therefore the motor, is subject to water ingestion. Cool air is readily available...so is water...if you aren't mindful of that, at all times on the water.

Front air intakes rely on drawing cool air from the oem location. This location not only feeds the motor but also, through convection, ventilates the hull.
