05 RXP Wear Ring

Looking in through the nozzle at the wear ring on my boat, I can see "grooves" in the wear ring, kind of like grooves in a record (for us old timers). Should the wear ring be smooth from back to front, or is this normal?

Can't really see any kind of gap between impeller and wear ring, but looks kind of strange--

Horizontal grooves?

Record, you mean like when I set one for the fastes speed on the river!.....LOL

No, I'm old school and believe it or not, I still have my old player. My kids find it amusing. I still have two rotary telephones too. One hanging up in my kitchen from 1963 and the other from the early 70's. They both work. When they ring, it brings back memories.

Horizontal grooves are probably from a small pebble or something scratching the walls of the wearing ring on it's way out. Not to much to worry about.

The biggest worry is if your measurement between the impeller and wearing ring exceed .40", then you got some problems.......time to change it out.

How do you even get to it to measure??? I really haven't looked at mine closely, but I have looked in before to see if there was a stick or foreign object of some kind back there!!!
