04 GTI LE RFI and 98 GS

I picked a pair of skis today for the Mom in law...
The Guy stated they ran 3 years ago when he parked them in his garage?

Dead batteries on both obviously. (still were connected)

I can turn the boats over by hand so I know the engines are not seized.

04 GTI... I think it might have a band starter Bendix.... with jump box attached it will turn the starter over but it sounds like it is disengaged. (no compression, spark, or engine movement.)


98 Once connected it got it to turn over so tomorrow with a good battery not just my jump box hopefully I can get it to start (even on the bad gas!)

Should I drain the gas on both machines before doing anything?


(When comparing the GTI LE RFI to my old 98 GTX How will they compare? looks like a newer hul design and the RFI?? better fuel ecomonomy, handling.. all of the above?)

if it is the starter bendix can it be replaced?? Or Do I need a whole new starter?

Where is the best place to get parts? Bendix or complete starter?

With the GTi... yes, you can replace just the bendex... but, if the battery was very dead, and it was still hooked to the system while the jump pack was hooked to it... it may have been pulling enough juice to not engage the starter properly. Before worrying about it... put a good battery in it, hooked directly to the cables.


Don't worry about the the spark plugs... 2-stroke engines eat pugs, and even on a perfect tune... they eventually turn black because of oil build up. Also, we use "Low ash" oil, so by it's nature... there will be some leftovers. Put in new plugs and run the ski's before passing judgment on the plugs.

Thanks... I will drop in a new battery today!
I did take out the batter and hook it directly to my jump pack and got the same thing last night!

I charged up the battery and installed it (12.4v according to the multimeter).. Same thing... Starter just spins (seems disengaged to me?)

Where is the best place to get a bendix? should I just get a whole complete starter or just a bendix?

the boat has 117 Hours on it.

Got the GS running today! had to put a bit of premix in the plug holes to get it to fire off and go! Once I did it pulled enough fuel to keep it running!

Seems to run great, I had it on the hose for a few mins to to make sure!!! Cant wait to get the the GTI running now!
The GS has 135PSi in each!

Where is the best place to buy a bendix? Anyone have a part number? 04 GTI LE RFI
