Fairly new to the seadoo PWC world as a home mechanic vs taking them to the dealer. Finished my top end on my older XP and its been great all summer. My XP DI however recently displayed a "MAINT" light that will not go away when i attempt to reset per the manual. Started working through the various sensors for troubleshooting and not having any luck discovering which sensor(s) are the culprits.

Decided to go about winterization on this XP DI and make the sensor troubleshooting a winter project (can still use the other ski and the boat for another couple of weeks here in Indiana). Have the manual and searched the forum, yet having newbie syndrome this afternoon while attemtping to winterize (i know dreaded topic already).

I have the water inlet hose, the water outlet hose underneath the tuned pipe clamped. I thought I had the proper hose for the engine cyclinder drain hose clamped as well, but when i begin to pour into the extended bottom hose at the water regulator valve from the muffler - per the manual i should see antifreese come from the cooling system bleed outlet. I dont see, I just get antifreeze coming out at the inlet grate after about a quart or so. I dont think i have the right hose clamped identified for the engine cylinder drain hose ? Any tips to ensure i have identified correctly ? Smaller hose about half inch OD.

Have I done any damage = got antifreeze somewhere where it shouldnt be ? Feeling helpless after doing so much of my own work lately.... Thanks in advance for any advice. Im about searched out on the forum for help.

how long ago was this? pull the plugs, crank it over and get stuff out! then put in plugs and let it idle up, then turn on hose.

ME: I don't unhook anything. I start engine. hook a pump to water in hose on back of ski, turn pump on to pump in antifreeze while engine is running, once I get a gallon in there, i shut off pump, then shut off engine. ta-da. with the engine on, it keeps water / antifreeze out of the engine combustion chamber w/the exhaust pressure.

a gallon usually causes the pink stuff to come out of all cooling line exits, and fills the engine, maybe 2 gallons would be safer for a $3.50 difference... i have a 120v pump, but no reason a 12v or so wouldn't work... anything that hooks to a hose.

then in the spring, nothing was disconnected, so i start engine and hookup water to cool it, pushes all antifreeze out, which i try to collect and recycle of course.

Knew something wasnt right, so I already did the emergency procedures you mentioned within a few minutes of when i was attemtping to winterize. This all happened today within a matter of approx 20 min.

I turned over w/o plugs a few times and saw no evidence of antifreeze. inserted plugs and ran for about a minute and then shut off. hooked up hose and flushed for about 2-3 min, took it up to about 3k in rpm once during that run. clean water flowed out pee hole and exterior end.

appreciate the response and assistance. ive heard of the pump method but thought i would attempt to follow my service manual. will most likely go about your method for winterizing as seems alot easier and more effective (replacing water from a flush with antifreeze for winterization).

at this point dont think i suffered any damage but fingers crossed from my neive actions. will focus now on the maint light flash and start troubleshooting sensors some more and go out and purchase a pump and some more antifreeze for the next run. thanks again for the prompt response and the azimuth check. still learning but sure enjoy working on these myself.

don't forget fuel stabilizer, fogging the engine, and removing the battery... not to mention grease anything that needs greased, and hit any bare metal with WD-40 or fogging oil. also change the pump oil if you have not in a while... I do mine every 2-3 years... manual says every 1 i think. also dry everything out! leave the bins / trays out and engine hatch up for days in the garage!
