My 03 Sea-Doo GTX 4-TEC has been running great all season until last week. It starts right up and seems to run fine but won't excelrate past around 30 MPH. I pulled it out of the water and checked the intake for cloggs and there was nothing. I called a local reapir shop and they say it sounds like a gummed up fuel filter due to the ethanol in the fuel.
The say to bring it in and the will take cleanup the fuel filter etc..
Does this sound right. Does anyone have a suggestion that maybe I can do myself before spending $400 or $500.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

If it's revving up high and still wont go past 30, then it is propulsion problem. But....if the rpms will not go up it is probally a carb/fuel problem. At least around here.....some of the gas stations that have ethanol is only 10%, not higher. I do know with seadoos, they say do not run gas containing greater than 10% ethanol. So, I don't think that's your problem.

Do it all yourself, it will always be a quarter of what they want. This is crazy but are you sure you had the right key, sounds like you had the learner key in.
