03 RX DI going into "maintenance mode"

Last summer I had an intermediate problem with the Seadoo going into "maintenance mode" . I would then shut down, pull the dess and the problem would fix it self. This year it's showing "maintenance mode" after 5 secs and it won't go away. I know these things are loaded with sensors but does this problem sound familiar to anyone with DI experience? I did check fuel pressure, 104 psi, so we can rule that out and it doesn't say "low voltage" so probably not the rectifier. I know I should hook it up to candoo or the like but I am on a strict budget this summer so trial and error is my only option.

I would check your voltages first. You won't get the low voltage warning until the battery is loosing charge & under 12V, but the maint light will come on if its charging under 12.5+/- , or over 15+/-

Thank 68ragtop for that fact. I did not know that. My brother in law had a rectifier issue on his DI and the message did say "low voltage" or somthing to that effect. I think I will try his rectifier and see if the "maintenance mode" light stops.

the maint light could be a lot of things, but the voltage is the easiest thing to test first. Its also one that won't trip until its been running for a few seconds. If you have a voltmeter, just test you current voltages.

I have not seen the low battery display, but I would think the maintenance light would come on for lack of voltage, before the low battery display. Or if the battery is drained at first start up maybe.

the MAINT message will come on at regular intervals and means nothing if it still runs fine and goes away after a few seconds. if yours doesn't go away, most likely rectifier and it doesn't always say low voltage for a bad rectifier.

MY DI had a bad regulator when I bought it, however this one was allowing the voltage to go up & out of range triggering the maintenance warning. If the battery is fully charged & the regulator is undercharging, that will trigger the maintenance warning as well without the low battery, however if a person rides the ski after the warning, the low battery will come soon after as its letting you know that you will be dead in the water soon. ;) I think the only way you will see the low battery as the very first warning, would be if the battery is discharged already & you install the lanyard. then warning should come on before you even start it.

I just wanted to let everyone know that it was a "maintenance interval reminder" as "ski-dOO" had suggested and holding down the "set" button fixed the "maintenance mode" problem ...thanks "ski-dOO"
