just had a rebuilt motor installed but the oil pump is bad and id like to use it for the holliday weekend. Can you just premix the gas in these motors or will the bottom end lockup due to lack of oil? thanks in advance
talked to my uncle and he said he added oil to the gas when he broke in the motor orignally and no problems, my local shop owner also said it wouldnt hurt but SBT says not to, really confused

so whats the difference between running oil just to break it in, and running oil in it part time until i can get an oil pump.? if the digital injection system can handle some oil for break in why not handle enough oil to keep the top end lubricated on its own?
I am trying to help you, however it is up to you if you want to chance your motor.......the difference is the " extra " oil during break in....it is only extra oil...........you are talking about eliminating the oil injection system and running premix that is a big difference
I dont know if you gonna get this or not but the main reason you caint premix your oil is the Di has a air pump (well atleast mine does) if you premix it there will be no oil going to your air pump..the pump operates your rave valves and also goes to the fuel rail to help impsove fuel milage...
My RX-DI came from the dealer with a tank of gas with oil premixed in it, they said it was needed for the first tank for break in. I did notice the manual did not. anyhow after 125 hrs and still running strong. My 2 cents
