Hey everyone, new to the forums. I have an 02 RXDI thats got some oil in the hull after I am done riding. I have read that the factory oil tanks leak quite often at the seams. I felt for oil at other places like the tube and connections and do not feel any. I do however see oil where the oil tank touches the gas tank and its look quite red around the entire seam of the oil tank. New tank?

or used one. Some have plastic welded or glued them. You must get it perfectly clean to glue it.

I cannot find where the check valve is. I see 2 lines running off the oil fill tube at the top but no other line that is suppose to carry the check valve.

I may have given you a red herring. Not sure that model has a check valve. It is called a 'female housing tab' on yours. No idea what that is. Sorry.

Those oil tanks are known to crack on the seam. The shop that replaced mine went around the seam with 3 coats of silicone seal. Then a layer of foil tape on the seam. They said otherwise it will leak again in 3 or 4 years. This way it will never leak again.

You are probably not going to see the lower oil line coming out of the tank without a mirror because of the exhaust pipe. It's really tight on the RXDI.
Pull the tank and check the seam.

I have not seen one of the 2 part tanks that wasn't leaking. They are junk but I keep buying them.
