Mine has the anti-rattle kit installed. During the build, I put new bearings, seals, and a Sola's impeller in and the anti-rattle kit was intact. I don't doubt some of the rattle is pump related as it didn't rattle when I first fired it up (without the impellor shaft connected) however, it really sounds like midship port side. I did think about the cotter key as a possible source but haven't fired it up again to check. I don't mind a bit of a rattle here and there but my only concern is that when I was verifying the timing, I could see the rattle in the timing light. It wasn't huge, but when it idled down to 1400, it had a bit of a shake in the idle and the rattle was pronounced. I'm thinking it's just a tad low idle or something related to the fuel injection as I didn't get the injectors cleaned. It runs like a top and if I just barely crack the throttle the rattle disappears. Only happens at low idle. Will mess with it some more this weekend to see if I can narrow it down, but it's likely just not a perfect idle.
On a side note: I don't normally endorse or try to push products as I'm not a sales rep, but given this is a forum to help each other out I wanted to express my pleasure with a product I tried. I had some water spots on the DI when I got it, doubt it had ever been wiped down after use though I truly believe it's been garage stored and covered it's entire life. At any rate, after some reading on this forum and not wanting to spend any more money on this thing, I tried a 50/50 mix of vinegar and windex and it got rid of 95% of the water spots. The only bit remaining is very tough to see and just the outline, but no matter how hard I scrubbed, that last little bit just wouldn't come out. After getting the water spots pretty much taken care of, I followed another tip on this forum and bought some Teflon wax.
Now I'm here to tell you, if you didn't know this ski was 12 years old, you would swear it's new or only a year or two old! I used some Star Brite premium marine polish with PTEF and WOW! This thing looks amazing to say the least. I spent about 2 hours washing it down with vinegar and windex to get water spots off, but I only spent an hour giving it one coat of wax and the transformation is nothing short of amazing. Highly recommend the Star Brite wax. Here's some after Pix. Don't mind the garage mess! My wife is an amazing women, but she's highly offended if any of my tools migrate into the house unless it's for her needs! and I absolutely must leave one bay open so she' doesn't have cold cheeks in the morning

So I'm crammed in on one side for now. However, that wax is damn good.
