Greetings!!!

I am fairly new to PWC riding and maintenance, so please excuse any beginner bone head comments, but I really need some input and recommendations. So here's the story . . . I have a 2001 Seadoo XP That I picked up last year/last season along with a 2002 GTI Limited. We rode both skis for the remainder of the season last year before I winterized, fogged, and stored both. fast forward to this season and we have rode mostly my GTI and a new Honda I have picked up. The XP has been off and on with little bogging quirks, and it has always had a stiff steering on it. Compression test on both cylinders are a steady 110 and it usually starts up with a little effort. on a good day it will run about 52-54mph. I have just replaced the steering cable. So this week I have decided that I want to keep my XP and have it serve as my "project ski" while learning the inner workings of a 2 stroke ski and how to fix them. Knowing a solid xp should run around 65-68 mph cleanly, i would like to get this one up to that level again. I pulled the fuses and notice the VTS fuse and Bilge fuses were both blown. Ok, so that explained the Trim never working and the bilge pump never pumping water out of the hull. I have ordered both replacements. Decided that a carb rebuild is in order, so I have ordered my rebuild kit and its on the way. meanwhile i pulled the filter and filter housing for the fuel and found the dreaded grey line "crud" in the cap and in the gas (see pics). I know, I know, I should have checked for those grey lines way back when i picked up the ski and replaced them then. so water under the bridge now. I plan to go ahead and swap out the grey lines this weekend, as I have done this before on an old 95' XP I used to have.

My question and need for advice . . . with the fuel lines being swapped out and the carb rebuild, is this a sufficient fuel system cleaning to prevent any more of this crud from cycling through my ski? What else do I need to do? siphon the gas from the tank, etc? I really want to do everything possible to prevent this stuff from pushing back into my lines. I don't even want to flush or test crank it until i get this fuel system 100% clear. I apologize for the long blog, but I'm really in need of some good advice from some avid riders and DIY'ers.

I like to install a good "In-line" filter just before the carbs. That will catch the crap, and keep you going.

But... 110 psi is low on any Rotax engine.
