00' seadoo challenger 1800 M2 ignition key

hi

2000 seadoo challenger 1800 with merc M2 jet drive

just looking for options for the ignition key replacement.
it currently has the 3 stage key (OFF-ON-START) the ON position beeps

can someone confirm that this boat actually has a 3 position key and we are not missing something?

the key and ignition is worn

what we would like to do is just change the key to 2 switches, basically a 2 position switch OFF-ON then a PUSH TO START switch.... so basically flick the 2 position switch to ON then push the START button

not worried about the whole security thing of having a 'key'

has anyone done this, or how hard would this be? i have all the wiring diagrams, but there is about 7 or 8 wires going into the ignition?

any ideas/suggestions?

I just looked over the 210, 240 and 250 wiring diagrams... and they only show 3 or 4 wires. Regardless... it's only a 3 position switch, so you can change it. If your boat has extra wires... you will have to figure out what they are used for, and wire them accordingly.
