2000 challenger 2000 with mercury 240 EFI that bogs out at 3500/4000 RPM

Sounds like a lack of voltage. These engines consume more energy as they rev up and if the charge isn't there the battery alone struggles to provide the power and they bog down and die. Then the battery recovers enough to restart and the same thing happens. Could it be the stator has seized and...

    Dead Seadoo Eutopia

Have you checked your kill switch is on properly. Take it off and push in with your finger to start. The caps can stretch over time and not push the button in fully. Also engine won't fire if your throttle is not in the middle neutral position

    Spark plugs

Just wanted some thoughts. I have a 240m2 Efi second generation in Utopia 2004. Problem is I can put some new spark plugs in. The boat runs really well but then progressively gets harder to start when warm. If I change the plugs notice the gaps are shorter. Only thing I can think that would...

    Engine flooding on a gen2 M2.

Hi, Have had a gen2 M2 Utopia for about 5 years and every now and again it has a problem re starting when warm. It usually fires up within a couple of seconds but when it doesnt it seems like the engine has flooded. If i take the cover off and leave the throttle open vapour can be seen coming...

    Alarm at acceleration

Definitely sounds like Alternator, As Dr Honda said you should be seeing c.13v across the battery when running. I managed to find a replacement by putting the manufacturing code into google and found the original alternator, Without the Mercury branding on the internet for 1/3rd of the price.

    Alarm at acceleration

Check for corrosion on the alternator pulley and under the flywheel. I replaced the alternator after my second belt and it hasnt caused a problem since. Old alternator had a slightly corroded pulley but i read somewhere also that if its bearings are poor you might not detect it by spinning it...

High performance or Premium Gear Oil.

Hi. I have been following SO annual service who asks for High performance gear oil but I went and bought Premium Gear oil as it is in the Mercury specs. What do you use? Thanks.

    2002 Utopia Burning Through Fuel

Depending on how fast you go and the load etc. The specs for the m2 are 21.8 gph at 5500 rpm down to 11.8 gph at 4500 down to 9.1 gph at 4000 rpm. etc. You can see why 40 Gallons doesnt last long. Welcome to boating.

    Alarm at acceleration

Could it be a low charge / voltage alarm, Had a similar thing for a while until the battery died completely. Ok at idle but as soon as i put any load on the engine the battery couldn't keep up not being charged. Symptons got progressively worse as the lack of voltage prevented the cylinders from...

    Noob Question

Your boat will probably only start I'd the throttles are in neutral position and the lanyard is on. The stop buttons do go bad though. If you do start it the boat needs running water through it to keep it cool. There should be a hose attachment somewhere but be careful as most people don't have...

    240 M2- 00' Speedster

Wires out of the switch are only about 6 inches long so harness plug is just behind the switch. Come in the back of the dash and you should see it. I replaced mine with an aftermarket one.

    240 M2- 00' Speedster

Had a similar thing being caused by the kill switch. They go bad and start shorting with the vibrations which kills engine. Mine would happen most when doing fast right turns. Replaced it no problems this year with boat. If you unplug it at the harness and see how she runs.

    Mercury alternator belt

4 is the amount of grooves pk is code for the shape of the grooves and the 812 is belt length in millimetres. Because of the belt tensioner you can get away with few millimetres here or there.
