Hello guys, Lotte here!
2 months ago I bought a seadoo xpdi from 2003. When I bought it I didn’t know it was not running good. Long story short after all it doesn’t matter because now I have a project haha.
I tried to run it on the trailer but it didn’t run stationary and did not go above 4000 rpms. I changed the fuel pump cause I knew that was a common problem. But unfortunately no changes. I brought it to a mechanic. In the end he changed some parts (fuel regulator, new battery, new bougies etc) but also couldn’t figure out what the problem was. The measurements were good. I took the jetski out and drove it. Still did not run stationary and did not go above 4850 rpms. Also the maint light came up I brought it to the mechanic again, he deleted the fault code and the problem was a sensor (MAF sensor). I decided to took the engine out and look what’s wrong. The cylinders and pistons were damaged so I orderd new pistons and cylinders and rebuild it. Everything else was looking good and not damaged…..Buttttt the air compressor was also damaged. The cylinder was damaged because the old owner forgot to install the little round black thing in the piston that covers the piston pin….. So the piston pin could move and damaged the cylinder. So I orderd a new air compressor set. Tonight I will put the new set in the engine and this week put the engine back in the jetski. I will let you know if it runs good. My question, does anyone have the same problem or have some advice of what I could do more? Thanks in advance
