XP 97 BATTERY DEAD ? CHARGING PROBLEM ?

Hi,

Today went for a ride with my xp 97 (bought it second hand, so i dont know it very well yet). It started ok (seemed it lacked a bit of power to start fine, but started). after about 40 minutes i stopped.
Then i wanted to start it again, but it wouldnt. Needed an auxiliary battery.

Since it started pretty good with the auxiliary battery, does it imply that my battery need to be replaced ? or maybe the jet didnt charge it well during the ride ? (the jet was working great during the ride).

What do you think it is more likelly?

Don't guess... just check. Start the ski, and put a meter on the battery. Bring the engine up to 3000 rpm, and you should see a rise in the voltage. If you don't... then either the regulator, or the charge coil went bad. If you do see more voltage... replace the battery.
