I bought the enclosed wrist pin bearings and it came with a hard plastic outer ring and a plastic inner ring. Do I take off the hard plastic rings to install?

:ack::ack::ack::ack: I'm sorry you bought those. The fully caged wrist pin bearings are so much easier to use. Try and send them back and get the caged ones, less chance of spilling everywhere into the engine also. Cageless roller bearings are delivered in a plastic mounting device. For installation,
do this:

– Align replacement roller bearing with connecting
rod bore.

– Carefully push inner plastic sleeve into connecting
rod bore; outer plastic ring will release rollers

– Make sure thrust washers are present each
side of rollers.

– Place piston over connecting rod and align
bores, then gently tap piston pin with a fiber
hammer to push out inner plastic ring on opposite
side. Support piston from opposite side.

Caged bearings.......

All wrist pin bearings in the Rotax engines have gone to the caged bearings, for ease of assembly. They are used in the stock rods.
The way these new bearings are assembled, you leave out the washers. If ou try to assemble the new cage ones with washers, they'll never fit.
