Worx Intake Grate installation hardware question

I bought a Worx WR206 grate to install on my 96 GTS. It's a perfect fit, but I've got a bit of an issue with the stock grate bolts. With a standard socket, it's impossible to tighten due to the closely-sloping side ridges--the bolt area is recessed, and I can only partially get at them with a crescent wrench (guessing maybe 5#-10# of pressure). What can I do? Get thinwall sockets? They're super-expensive, and no B&M locations near me have them. Should I switch to stainless philips bolts instead? And if so, any recommendations for installing (beyond using blue threadlocker--according to 96 Seadoo shop manual) to ensure I'll be able to remove them years later?

I took an old socket and grinded it down and now it's a thin walled socket took ten minutes.

Interesting idea. I'll have to try that with a cheapo set if I ever run into a similar situation.

In the end, I found installation info for each grate type on the Worx.au site. This one is for mine:

Turns out my model was originally supposed to ship with allen-head stainless bolts. I went to my local True Value and picked up pairs of m6 bolts in 12mm/20mm with 1.0 pitch. Perfect fit. Marine silicone on the two contacts. I'll be putting threadlocker on the bolts if I can find a place locally that sells Loctite 242 Blue. I checked three places, and they only carry the Permatex crap now for whatever reason.

I did an initial run with the Worx grate installed yesterday (made sure bolts were good and secure without threadlocker), and I love how it works. Turning is so much easier now, and seaweed doesn't seem to get clumped up and stuck on it like the OEM grate did. Haven't tried riding it in chop yet.
