Hi guys,

I know this topic per say has been BEAT TO DEATH as ive done quite a bit of searching for some answers. Ive found a lot of info I needed but still not finding a clear answer for a few additional concerns / questions I have.

Im planning on picking up a 94 657X that needs outer crank bearings (or so we assume) top end still at 130PSI. But also getting a bunch of spare parts with it that I would like to use to touch up the 95 717 I have.(white motor) that runs however the harness inside it is hacked to bits along with the VTS not working.

I am keeping the flywheel stator MPEM coils ect with the respective motor as ive read doing a swap can be a little more of a headache then its worth.

What I need to find out is.

1) will the wire harness going to the dash gauges and controls off of the 657X plug into the 717? or be capable of working with the 717 with MINOR altering

2) Will the VTS out of the 657X bolt in to the 717.

Thanks in advance!

For those that enjoy pics... herers the only one I can find at the moment.

Why not just get the correct harness from Nick Minnetonka4me and be done with it?

Was going to just get a harness and another VTS for the 717... but I came across the 657 that needs outer crank bearings. the 657 is super clean and its coming with 2 complete electrical systems and VTS(the 657 burnt a stator on the water and previous owner changed out the stator and noticed the crank bearings where shot on that side) im getting the everything minus the trailer for 450$

My original thought was to just transfer the 717 into the cleaner 657 shell leaving the original ignition components of the 717 with it but using the 657 vts and loom for the gauges and controls. But after reading it seems like I would need to re time everything and its note quite just a "drop in" mod.

so now im starting to debate if its worthwhile.. I dont mind wrenching / fixing things but my main goal is to get the 717 back to 100% with trim and all gauges working again. as currently nothing on the 717 is working other then it starts and drives fine.

I personally know the seller from previous sales / purchases we both tend to buy fix / sell things for a hobby and profit. hes cutting a small loss on this to clear it out and finish up some other on going projects.

Basically if nothing is really usable out of the 657 for the 717 ill prob back out of the deal.

if nothing is worthwhile to use off the 657 for the 717 please let me know as I will tell the seller I'll pass.

The main things I need that are coming with the 657 that are coming in doubles is the VTS and harness which I was hoping I could swap into the 717.

Its coming with a spare MPEM among other parts too but the main things was the harness and VTS which the 717 needs
