I'm a newbie to this site and a virgin to boating. Looking to buy a 2006 Sea-Doo 205SE Utopia. Just wondering on the winterization details, Aside from documentation from a service dealer, how would one tell if the boat has been properly winterized?
Thanks

I moved your post to general discussion so you'll get a bit more action.

As for being able to tell if the boat has been winterized that's a tough one. If the dealership was messy, you may see a bit of antifreeze dripping out of the end of the pump, but that's about it. The problem is winterizing is mainly for the internal parts of the engine and the fuel system, so it's kind of tough to tell. The only real way to know if it's been fogged, or has antifreeze in the exhaust would be to run it for a bit, and at that point you would have to re-winterize it.

If it were me I would just go ahead and winterize it myself just for piece of mind. This has the added advantage of giving you first hand knowledge about your boat as well and the confidence to try other maintenance work. here's a thread that will give you the information you kneed to winterize it.

Thanks Aaron, I ended up buying the boat!!! went to Edmonton yesterday, boat was just Mint!, As for the winterization , he has assured me that it was done, and that i could verify with Martin Motor Sports, I noticed that the surfaces of engines a
had been sprayed and surfaced lubed, he is going to look for the rest of his maintenace documents as he was in the process of moving and had it packed in his garage. he told me the boat is also ready to go in the spring, just hook up the battery and go. I will be calling Martin Motor Sports Monday to get more info and do some of the warranty transfer work as there is still two years remaining. I know its a risk buying in the off season without the test drive but the deal was to hard to pass up.Thanks again for your help and looking forward to this site!

No problem.

Post a couple of pictures when you get the chance. Mind if I ask what you paid for it? You can send that by PM if you want. Be sure and check out some of the lakes in the "Lakes around the Calgary area" thread this summer, as well as the "BC Lakes". Lots of good information in both those.

I just tried to post the pictures on the site?? still getting used to the navigating of this site, had trouble just posting??? We will mostly like use it only at Glennifer Lake as we have a place at the resort. Eventually we will venture out on the road. 20K with a tons of accesories,

You can host pictures to the site, but they have to be fairly small. Just click manage attachments when you are adding a post. The other way is to get something like a Photobucket account and link to them. 20k sound like a good price on that boat.
