Winterizing a 587cc Seadoo

I have a mid 1990s Seadoo with 587cc. This is my first year having one and have never winterized them. I had some questions about how to fill the lines with an antifreeze mixture. Though now some people say that it could be unnecessary as long as the water runs out freely. Your thoughts?
