Can anyone tell me why my mpem keeps going out? I had one that wasn't creating spark. When removing the red/black wire spark would work but it wouldn't die. I replaced that one, it worked for about 30 starts on the trailer and then same problem, it wouldn't die at first and now no spark.

Any reason why?

Damn, I wish I knew that before I put this one in. I have plenty of regulators laying around. Are my MPEM's repairable? I am very good with electronics if I know where to look.

EDIT: I replaced the regulator, now were back to getting spark, but it will not die. Anyway to bypass this to kill it or any fix? Or can I put in a yellow 580 electronics?

Check the kill wire for the ignition coil, a bad connection or bad ground will cause it to not shut off.

Seems there's a short somewhere in the electrical system. I would go through all the wiring.

I highly doubt 2 mpems have gone out that close together. There is an underlying electrical issue going on. Ill wait for some of the pros to chime in. Just give them alittle time.

Thats why I have strong feeling about the regulator being bad, but I don't know maybe some other wiring is bad. The engine was swapped once by the previous owner.

Have you checked all the grounds? If one has a bad connection causing it to pull ground through the mpem circuitry then there's your problem.
