I need some advice from you guys who have owned both of these boats and could give me your feedback. I am looking at a 1997 SPX and a 1996 GSX the price is basically the same and both boats are in great shape. I mostly ride in the ocean and do a lot of wave jumping so I was leaning more toward the SPX but already have a 96' so maybe the GSX would be a better choice???
I'm confused and would like to hear yalls opinions.

Thanks in advance.

Just got the pics of the GSX and its not in very good shape cosmetically.

I own both a 94 spx and a 97 1/2 gsxl. The gsx has a larger, deeper hull and would be more stable in the ocean than the spx. But the spx is lighter and more nimble if you're into wave jumping. With the spx you'll be getting lots of air, whether you intend to or not.

i have 2 spx they are awsome for jumping and horseplay on but for just crusing it can get pretty rough on just moderate waves

I have both, and agree with the prior posts.

SPX (x4 hull) - for pure fun it can't be beat. It's nimble, slides around, jumps easily, and just plain old fun. It really needs the VTS system, to keep it from bouncing around in anything but smooth water. It has a tendancy to porpoise easily and trimming will help smooth it out. With one person it's stable at idle, with 2 people watch out you will get wet, this is a better one man craft.

The GSX (ltd here), tracks very well in the water. Will hold unbelievable turns without sliding, for carving it's awesome. Rides well in all wave conditions. Still fun to jump (and light enough). Stable with 2 adults and really does seat 2 people.

I think the 2 strokes are hard to beat with regards to weight and performance. If i'm going on long rides the GSX is the boat of choice, otherwise the SPX.
