where to get a good crankshaft???

i need a new crank for my 787. is the trued and "welded" crank from sbt a good decision? i need to be sure the seals aren't going to go out in a year or two. where have others on here bought cranks?

I don't have a 787 crankshaft, but I do have a three year old 787 SBT premium engine in my 95XP 800. So far it's been great.

I bought my BRP remanufactured crank from www.shspowersports.com, cheapest place on the net I could find and I researched it for at least a week straight. It comes straight from Bombardier I think it comes with a 1 year warranty (ask), it cost me $351.19 plus a $200 dollar core, when they get yours back you get your $200 back. I ordered part# 421000076 which is the same part# for your 99 Challenger if that is what your shopping for. If you call ask for Jen, she's great to deal with and will get you set straight. If your doing it over the winter months ask her when they are having their next "free shipping" event, if not they'll ship it to you for $20. She might be able to send a return label with it and just deduct the charge from your core return possibly, ask her. Going to a ups store may cost you more than $20 possibly. And it's 100% BRP no need to question how long it will last or what quality the seals or bearings are, that speaks for itself. It's $75 more than SBT, never owned anything SBT, I'm an OEM only guy.

did you purchase a crank from here? how much did you pay? there is no prices or descriptions on that site whatsoever. i can find sites that sell what i need, i was looking to get some input on what to buy or not to buy based past experiences. working out of town m-f with no access to the internet doesn't make this easy, but i know i must investigate before spend that much bread on my engine. i know this question should probably be a new tread but, in boats of this age (1999 and older) is it inevitable that the crank seals will eventually fail?

well......now i have alot to think about, thanx to you all for the info. just got done checking out the off season deals going on at fullbore in MI. they will do a premium rebuild with all the bells and whistles and a 3 year warranty for $1099 and about $75 shipping. i am now seriously considering this. this tread is about needing a crankshaft but i forgot to mention that i am going for a complete rebuild, i have never rebuilt a two-strroke engine. so for 2-300 dollars more than the price of parts alone i can have the experts do a full rebuild and have a warranty.

I have never purchased anything from them, but I have a friend that has and he was well satisfied with their products.
