On a 95 HX.

Where is the oil pump bleed screw?

My manual points to the bolt holding the lever on. Obviously wrong, as are a lot of things in this manual.

Do I really need to bleed it?
If I run a tank of premix through, will it give the motor time enough to get oil from the pump?

As it stands now. I'll have to unbolt the engine and rock it to the right side to even get at the screw.

I've been messing with it for a couple hours trying to see through a mirror.
All I've managed to do is get frustrated.

Yes, Thanks.

Now all I have to do is find a way to get at it, without lifting the motor, or pulling the carbs.

These things are obviously built to be worked on by people that are much smaller than 6'2" and 265 lbs.

it is pretty easy access on the 787, you cant see it though, just have to feel for it. dont know about the 717

premix some gas, then fire ski up, and while at idle, hold the oil pump arm, wide open...until you here the motor start load'n up, then you'll know, its primed.

So I went out, and lo and behold, after a night of leaving it alone. It took me less than 5 minutes to bleed the system.

Got to hate it when I get frustrated, and stop thinking clearly.

Thanks all
