Where did my wear ring go?

Suddenly began cavitating and wouldn’t reach top speed. I pulled the pump and this is what I found. I don’t see a wear ring, and the two wear ring retaining screws are visible on the inside of the pump housing.

Can the wear ring disintegrate or come apart and be spit out?

When all other possibilities have been investigated whatever is left is likely true. :D Yes they disintigrate into little pieces. When it happens it happens quickly.

There should be (4) retaining screws and when you go back in with the wear ring you put Loctite or equivilent around the perimiter. The wear rings on those pumps fit more loosely than some of the others and require loctite.

I can't find my picture but I slide a small piece of clear fuel line hose over the drill bit "as a stop" so I don't go too deep when drilling the wear ring to receive the screws. you have to pay attention because the screws will PUSH on the wear ring and push it away from the bore. Sometimes you can add a small washer if you chicken out and don't drill deep enough. It is a bit tedious. :D Pay attention to that. Good Luck !!

Thanks for the info.
When you drill through the housing and into the wear ring, you are using a stop to not drill all the way through the wear ring?
