I just bought a 1995 seadoo xp with 717 engine. The first outing on it, it ran fine first 30 minutes or so. Then it started bogging down, then run fine for minute, then bogg down. I accidently pulled the lanyard and killed the motor. After that I couldn't get it to crank. The motor turned over but won't start. When I got it home i discovered the attached pics. The tubing was attached where i have it circled in red. I noticed this before I took it out but it was in tact at the time but when I inspected it after my troubled outing i noticed it in the condition in the pics. Why did they have this tied off and could this be my problem?

I did a compression test. Both cylinders registered 120 psi. I replaced the line and tied it off like they had it but can't remeber if i did the compression test before or after i replaced it. Would that have messed with the compression reading if that wasn't tied off. I just thought it was strange that both cylinders registered the exact same. I am totally new to this so please be patient

120 is low. Its time for a top end rebuild. You see all the green slime around that hose? Those grey lines suck balls. This is probably why it wasnt running good. You should replace all those lines with 1/4" automotive fuel line. I have that same ski and bought 22 ft and had some left over. I changed everything but the tank vent lines. Then you will want to clean your carb filters.

Yeah after researching the forum, I plan on replacing the hoses in the next week. What all does a top end rebuild consist of? I am TOTALLY new to all this. Hopefully something I can do on my own. I bought a repair manual and its on its way. I have learn a lot just by reading this forum. Thanks for any help you can give!

I couldnt tell you what it consists of because I have never done it but will probably do it this winter on mine. I am new as well and all I know is from this site!
