Pic shows scuff mark on fiberglass and sratches/gouges in bumper where my wife ran over the corner of my ski with hers. How can I at least make it look better?IMG_3018.jpg

on the gelcoat, rub it downwith some wet and dry using plenty of water and some 1200 grit. Then do the same with 16 or 1800 and then polish it.On the corner buffer, there is not a lot you can do but a scouring disc may help. These are like a green scourer you use in the kitchen but are on a disc you use on a small angle grinder.
or,run into hers so it looks worst than yours

My brother owns a detail shop. To just get the color off of your hull, hit it with just a simple thinner, or solvent. Then buff and wax it. If the gelcoat is scraped though, I'm not sure. I'm looking forward to see what people say, mine received one today from the dock giving it some love. Not sure if an automotive style skimcoat, then paint or what.....

thanks guys. the other day she ran into the side of the boat too, luckily no damage. she has a bit of trouble with the concept of no steering if ski not running...

To repair the gelcoat you need to 'fill' it with gelcoat again but it needs to have wax added to the resin mix.Gelcoat by itself will stay sticky and the wax that is added, stops this.(on new parts coming out of a mould, the wax comes from the wax that is on the polished mould)hopefully someone on this site will know the brand and actual color that was used on your ski.You should be able to buy this as a touch-up kit.Mix it up,apply with a small bush so there is on overflow of the hole and when dry,you sand back the excess, smooth it over with wet and dry (1200 and then 16-1800) and then polish it.Make sure everything is dry first and give it a good wipe with acetone.Hope this helps

I just had another look at the pic. you posted.Try my initial reply first but it if it does not remove the marks.Do NOT put the polish on.Thanks

I would smack the wife, and not worry about it.

With Jetskis... I'm in the "As long as it looks good from 10 feet" category. I remember (back in the day) I would tray to keep my skis looking showroom perfect. Well... it was just too much work. Not to mention... when I would let one of my buddies take a ride... there would be scuff marks, and scratches. Once I stopped worrying about it... I had more fun.
