What is this broken tube?

From the manual, I believe it is the oil injection capillary but am I correct?

My 95 SPI (which I recently acquired from my brother in law) was bogging down at high rpms. I cleaned the carb out (seafoam and carb cleaner) and the bogging went away - now it backfires through the carb. Pulled the off carb and noticed the broken line.

Anyway, since I am new to seadoos (but not engines or boats), any input would be appreciated. The engine is obviously running too lean which is causing the backfire. But I appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks.

yep thats an oil line, you'll want to check the oil pump out there should have been an oily mess there but the tube looks dry. there is a procedure for priming/testing the pump.

that oil line open like that might be the source of your lean condition its leaking air in behind the carb

it might be a good time to take the carbs off and open them up. clean them up
you might not need to order 2 rebuild kits.

replace that line/s from stuff at Ace/Depot..etc. May wanna do compression check, sincethat side cylinder was starved for oil.

I checked the compression a few weeks back (and have not run it since) and it was fine for both cylinders (wanted to make sure the backfire was not caused by a cracked piston etc) - both were 100+ psi but it was an automotive compression gauge, not a two cycle.

I can get the tubes at a hardware store???

Yes, I have a fair amount of oil in the bilge so I am guessing it may have leaked out a bit but the seadoo has been used very little in the past couple years. Probably the reason for the carb getting gummed up to start with.
