dealerships....
The only thing I have ever bought brand new from a dealer is a motorcycle. I have done that twice. Why? Because these rebates and all the other things you see in the paper to draw in customers is usually a sham. The reason you can't really put a specific on it is because the language is always left to be somewhat misleading. This way, they are allowing their franchise to be the ones to put the final dollar on it.
I've seen the ads on t.v. that tell you if you come down and buy a certain model that is advertised, go to get it, just to have the dealer say, "oh, that wasn't model advertised, that was the one that is a twe seater and is yellow instead of red. Believe me, the best way to get a good deal is through haggling. You need at least 3 Seadoo dealers who all have the same ski you want. Taxes usually run a bit different between these three dealers but I bet, if you get a written estimate from one dealer, go to another and without showing him the estimate, work with him to get a good deal and when he's not able to do it, pull out that written estimate and show him then, say, "oh well, this dealer just beat you by $500 bucks, so I guess I'll go back to him and purchase his". I bet you'll get that dealer signing a different song and find, you might get a good deal from him because he'll realize he's not dealing wiht a dummy.............
