What does this starter fit?

Denso part # 228000-8561 I can find no info on it at all. It's a full ball bearing starter but the top cover threads are in different spots than the normal starter. In the picture it's the piece on the left without the bearing in it. It came with the 8 tooth gear. The back support bracket is different as well, with it mounted on the starter the engine tab points down. I swapped out the top piece to make it work on the 717 but was curious what it came off of. I got it off eBay where it was listed as a 717 starter.

In case anyone ever runs into the same thing - It's off an RFI. Nice starter with all ball/needle bearings and an 8 tooth bendix, but the top cap has different mount positions so the support bracket won't mount on a 717/657/587.
