What does the top 30A on starter relay do?

on my 2002 GTX 4tec the top 30A fuse on the starter relay was smoking..pulled the fuse and it was melted and corroded..my question is what is the fuse for? the ski still will start and run fine so is it for the recharge system?

Yes, it is for the charging system. Replace the fuse holder. The fuse fits loose in the factory holder which causes it to get hot and melt.

how can you replace the fuse holder when it looks to be one piece? and if that fuse is bad what things happen other then a weak battery?

My bad. It is 1 piece. You'll have to replace the relay. If the fuse goes bad you won;t be charging the battery. That's all.

Could the drop in battery voltage cause any kind hesitation or ignition issues? if you read my other trend im having some RPM issues and power issues..im not sure if this could be part of it?
