What are the symptoms if your RAVE valves are sticking??

My new to me 1997 GTX will stop increasing rpms sometimes at 5000, but not all the time, but if I just crack the throttle a couple of times it shoots right up to 7000 and runs great if I keep it above 5k. Is this sticking rave valves? I plan on doing some maintenance during the winter just trying to see what it runs like first.

If you do a quick search, you'll see there is a TSB for 1997s with the 787 engine (including your GTX) for replacing the RAVE housings and valves due to prolonged bogging at 5k rpm. Mine has this problem (a '97 GTX as well) but I haven't received my replacement valves yet.

That I couldn't say for sure. I tried cleaning mine to no avail. I just got a set of used ones last night that are the updated version with the slots in the blades, so I'll let you know.

I am ordering a good set of used updated ones from Nick at Westside powersports this week. I don't want to do the job twice.

Can do! Except that I just found yet another broken part, so I'm waiting on that. Once I have allllll of my parts, I will take it back out. Hoping this weekend!
