I have the ski apart and what is left of the wear ring I THINK is in a grove between the brass and the fiberglass parts is that realy part of wear ring and what is the best way to remove it thank for any help i have not seen new part as has not arrived yet

The wear ring is around the impeller. To remove the wear ring, remove the impeller and I use a jig saw to cut through the ring. Be careful not to cut past the ring. Once you've cut through it all the way it will pop right out. Pop new one in freezer for a couple of hours and slide in!

how does it come out

what happe was was was wrapped up in impeller when i took apart all that was left was some inbetween the brass and the fiber glass under where wear ring whould of been i think it seem as though the plastic left is under (between) brass and fiberglass??

Thanks for help found picture of wear ring

Found web sight that had picture of new wear ring and said have to cut the fiber glass off also

Yes, what you are refering to is the piece of the wear ring that is under neath of the actual factory laminated wear ring top part.....That is like a black plastic and once you start peeling that away, you will see the whitish plastic/fiberglass component under that.

What I did was to peel that black plastic away from one area of the wear ring exposing that whitish part...then I took a dremel with a cutting head on it and carefully and slowly cut a kerf from the brass to the end of the thickness of the wearring all the way down to the pump housing making sure NOT to cut into the housing. Once I had the kerf in it, I then stuck a thick bladed screw driver between the housing and the white part (there is a lip on the facing surface edge) and pried the kerfed part apart and stuck another screw driver between the white ring, now pried away from the housing, to keep it from re-seating. .....pried out and up and out the whole thing came in one piece from the pump leaving a clean removal with no marks in my plastic housing. The whole process took me 15 minutes. I had read how hard it was and devised a way to do it that was simple. I had my new wear ring in the freezer for a few days, and it slid right in with no hammering. i just set it in there and the hot sun took care of expansion. Very easy. Do not put ANY sealer on the new one when you put it in, you will create drama for the next time you replace it if you do. There is no need.....once the new ring expands, it will not spin in the housing with the impeller nor will it come out. The back of the housing is bolted to the boat and the wear ring cannot come out.

If you have not done this yet, take the whole pump and put it in the freezer for at least an hour. When you take it out, grab the wear ring with a pair of channel locks, give it a twist an it'll come right out. No need to cut it.

Put it back in the freezer along with the new wear ring for 1-2 hours and then it'll slide right in.

Got it fixed now to the next problem

Got it replaced cut it out froze it Now to figure out the next problem seem to lug a full throttle for about 3 to 5 seconds then takes off have heard may be the little fuel filter in carb any other ideas thanks for all the help
